Five Photographs:
Objects Representing the Photographic Space.

For the past fifteen months my work has developed around the exploration of photographic depth. The space in front of the camera, that which flattens to two-dimensions in a photograph, has provided the subject matter for a number of projects that collectively form the basis of an ongoing inquiry into photographic representation.

This series consists of five photographed objects, each a physical representation of a photograph. Using the frame and depth of the photograph as a structural guide, the photograph is considered in three-dimensions. These representations of photographic space are then completely isolated from both their original environment and the photograph on which they are based; leading to a series of sculptures that appear abstract despite being accurate representations of space defined and dictated by the photograph.
