The Dolls are alive!
From a fear of the depressive in the mundane derives a world of make-believe and wonder where the imagination dominates over reality.
The viewer is encouraged to interpret the images in their own individual way to find narratives and connections.
As reference points for her paintings Katrine uses her own photographs as well as found images from film and youtube.
By playing different roles with the doll, she looks at how adults can still find comfort in their fantasies.
The dolls represent someone who is different; instead of being treated like an outcast, she is given care and attention.
Through the medium of water-colour, playfulness and spontaneity are expressed by deliberately leaving certain elements untouched and others more realistically described.
