All Carved from the Carver’s Brain
My work is a self-explorative dismantling that, through a series of contradictions and counter-contradictions, has led me to the inherently human culture of duality: the universal law of opposites. In these two works I have made manifest this two-step precept; one representing the immediate unthinking impulses of the instinct, and the other the more considered self-reflecting reason of the intellect. Though in truth it is but a refuge – an abstract principle with which to defend my faults. It is in fact a neurotically composed history assembled via a narcissistic overestimation of subjective mental processes. Certain elements seem to be present across both works suggesting that I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate, I do. If anything can be proved about me at all, it is that I am plagued by a colossal inconsistency.
