Horologium

Horologium Kalendæ is a calendar based on daylight. It starts on the darkest day of the year, the 21st of December. Each double page spread represents the day and night of 24 hours, where 1 hour equals 1 inch in length. The calendar is based on a specific location; London, Greenwich Main time line, and can be applied to any coordinate around the planet.

Horologium Floræ is based on Carl Linnæus’ work with the same title from 1751. Linnæus selected 43 flowers which all are opening and closing their petals each day at specific times. The flowers tell the time in their natural environment, wherever they happens to be growing.
Each page shows the opening and closing time for a flower on a 24-hour timeline and the pages are arranged accordingly to the flowers’ opening times. The collective diagram on the posters gives an overview and compares opening with closing.
