We are surrounded by many consumer products of animal origin. From our plate to our wardrobe, our medicines and furniture, animals provide human beings with the various resources for their needs.
Being particularly interested in both the aesthetic of fashion and the meat industries, I explored both areas and the paradox of a cut of cloth being equal in necessity to that of a cut of meat, whilst one is associated with the glamour and the other with blood and guts. Both represent our everyday consumption as we need the meat industry to feed ourselves and we need the fashion industry to clothe ourselves.
I played with the tools and skills of both universes to create playful and crafted hybrids that marry the aesthetics of the butcher's counter and fashion's catwalks.
